President-elect Joe Biden fumbled Xavier Becerra’s name and title when introducing him as his pick to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.
“I’m really proud of this group. For Secretary of Health and Education Services, I nominate Xavier Bacheria,” he said Tuesday.

Biden quickly corrected himself on the pronunciation of Becerra’s last name.
Others pointed out the two fumbles on Twitter, with the RNC’s Steve Guest saying Biden “is a mess.”
“Joe Biden defeated AGAIN by the Teleprompter. ‘For Secretary of Health and Education Services, I nominate Xavier Bacheria.’ Joe Biden is a mess. It’s Health and Human Services. And it’s Xavier Becerra. Biden doesn’t know the the cabinet office or name of the official,” Guest wrote.

Biden’s rollout of his health team begins with the highest-profile name — Xavier Becerra, to lead @HHSGov.
It also began with a mispronunciation of Becerra as “boqueria.”

During the address in Delaware on Tuesday, Biden also vowed to distribute 100 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine during his first days in office.
“100 million shots in the first 100 days,” he promised.
“I’m absolutely convinced that in 100 days, we can change the course of the disease and change life in America for the better,” he added.
