The gun that George Zimmerman used to kill Trayvon Martin has reportedly sold for more than $120,000 to anonymous bidder.
According to TMZ, only seven verified users participated in the bidding.
Zimmerman still has to verify the winning bidder and his or her funds before the sale of the Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm used in the 2012 shooting of 17-year-old Martin is finalized. The auction ended Wednesday at noon.
The gun was originally set to be auctioned on Gunbroker.com last week, but it was taken down moments before the auction was supposed to go live.
Zimmerman then moved the auction to United Gun Group, but Internet trolls soon hijacked that listing Friday. At one point, a user named “Racist McShootface” had a $58 million bid on the table.
United Gun Group then pulled the public listing and required a private email verification to sift out the fake bids.
The Orlando Sentinel reported that one minute before the auction’s noon closing, a $138,900 bit was made by a user named “John Smith.”
However, “Smith” told the Orlando Sentinel that his bid wasn’t serious. He said he wrote a computer program to bid automatically for him, which United Gun Group noticed and then deleted his account.
