Bride and caterer charged with lacing wedding food with marijuana

Police have charged a Florida bride and her caterer with lacing the food provided at a Feb. 19 wedding with marijuana.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office was tipped off by Danya Glenny’s wedding guests, who called 911 with reports that they felt as though they were drugged.

First responders on the scene were met with more guests who reported the food had been laced with marijuana, unbeknownst to them, according to a police report. When deputies asked Glenny if there were drugs in the food, however, she denied the claim.

The sheriff’s office reported that the food was tested, and Glenny and her caterer Joycelyn Bryant were charged with tampering, negligence, and delivery of marijuana.

More than 42,000 people were arrested in Florida on charges of misdemeanor marijuana possession in 2018, according to state pro-marijuana activists.

Several Democratic gubernatorial candidates are proponents of the legalization of recreational marijuana. One of them, Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, has publicly admitted to using marijuana for medical purposes.

Incumbent Gov. Ron DeSantis is against its legalization but was in favor of the legislation that allowed Fried to legally smoke medical marijuana.
