Wolf responds to McLean’s noisy airplanes issue

Rep. Frank Wolf, R-10th, this week urged the Federal Aviation Administration to find ways to cut down on noise from planes rumbling over McLean.

The congressman, in a letter sent Monday to FAA Administrator Marion Blakey, said he was responding to the McLean Citizens Association, which believes “there has been a long-term increase in aircraft noise over their community” from plane activity at Reagan National Airport.

The citizens association, which represents 65,000 Fairfax County residents, says noise readings in the Langley Forest area of Mclean have increased at a high rate over the past year. The group resolved earlier in the month to urge Wolf to intervene.

Wolf serves on the influential House Appropriations Committee and its transportation subcommittee, and represents a district that includes McLean.
