Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., tweeted on Sunday afternoon saying not only Democrats, but Republicans, should be alarmed by the stifling of the press and the nation is being marched down a path to “authoritarianism.”
This is marching America down the road to authoritarianism. Reince Preibus statements on stifling the press should alarm even Republicans. https://t.co/p7yTZaFCyq

The tweet came in response to comments made about a possible constitutional amendment by White House chief of staff Reince Priebus earlier Sunday morning during an interview with Jonathon Karl on ABC’s “This Week.”
Karl asked Priebus if he thinks the president “should be able to sue for stories he doesn’t like.”
The White House chief of staff responded by saying that is an option “that is being looked at.”
The interview comes less than a month after President Trump tweeted about the “failing” New York Times coverage. In the tweet he asked if he should change libel laws.
The failing @nytimes has disgraced the media world. Gotten me wrong for two solid years. Change libel laws? https://t.co/QIqLgvYLLi
