TWS Fact Check has seen quite a bit of false information surrounding the large group of migrants traveling to the U.S. southern border, but few have been as pervasive or long lasting as the “immigrants are burning the U.S. flag!!” meme.
The image on the top is of a 2016 “clash” between police and protesters in these United States, specifically Albuquerque, New Mexico. (Yes, “New Mexico” is in the U.S.)
“The clashes erupted overnight, after Trump and some 4,000 of his supporters left the Albuquerque Convention Center. Approximately 100 demonstrators remained in downtown” Fox News reported at the time. Additionally, a wider shot from a local Fox station shows that the flag is a Trump 2016 campaign flag, not a U.S. flag
The image on the bottom left is from London circa 2010, just outside of the U.S. Embassy there. (We’re confident that Winston Churchill was rolling—yes, rolling; you lose weight when you die—in his grave at the time.)
Lastly, the bottom right image comes to us from Commie protesters outside the Republican National Convention in 2016.
But no matter how many times fact checkers quell this meme, it presses on; taking a page out of Hillary Clinton’s book perhaps.
