Amy Klobuchar sets up Hollywood fundraiser amid presidential speculation

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., is headed to Hollywood this weekend for a fundraiser that is fueling more speculation she might be considering a 2020 presidential bid.

Klobuchar will attend a Sunday fundraiser with Hollywood bigwigs Jeffrey Katzenberg and J.J. Abrams, and former Clinton advisers Paul Begala and James Carville, according to a report by the L.A. Times.

Donors are being asked to contribute up to $5,400 at the home of Andy Spahn, “an advisor to some of the entertainment industry’s biggest political contributors,” according to the Times.

Klobuchar will run for a third term in 2018, but isn’t considered as vulnerable compared to other Democrat senators who will run for re-election next year in states won by President Trump in 2016 like Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio.

The speculation of a Klobuchar presidential run ticked up after she talked economic policy in a visit to Iowa in early May of this year.
