The top Democratic super PAC, Priorities USA, is investing $30 million in digital advertising and outreach in seven 2022 battleground states.
This pot of money, for digital ads and voter turnout, is being directed to states with competitive gubernatorial and Senate contests but will also be used to boost Democrats in the critical House races in those same battlegrounds.
WHAT REPUBLICANS ARE PLANNING FOR IF THEY WIN THE HOUSE MAJORITY
The states Priorities USA expects to unleash this “exclusively digital” $30 million program on include Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin. The group is spending an additional $20 million to combat “voter suppression.”
“Priorities is making an unprecedented initial investment to support Democrats this cycle,” Guy Cecil, chairman of Priorities USA, said in a statement. “I am confident that Priorities USA is in the best position possible to defend and expand Democratic majorities this November.”
The super PAC and other Democratic groups have a tough road ahead. The party in power in the White House typically loses seats in Congress in midterm elections.
But recent polling suggests Democrats could face a harrowing 2022 as they seek to preserve their five-seat majority in the House and even narrower majority in the Senate, made possible by Vice President Kamala Harris’s tiebreaking vote.
