An NBC executive explained why the company had not made any firings after explosive reporting from Ronan Farrow claimed the company had tried to spike stories on sexual assault.
“Last night I asked an NBC Universal executive why they thought changes weren’t being made on the executive level at NBC News,” journalist Yashar Ali said Thursday on Twitter. “They replied ‘Because Ronan behaves like a terrorist and we’re not going to negotiate with terrorists.'”

NBC has so far refused to fire any of its top executives despite widespread outcry from the media and the public. An activist group collected 20,000 signatures calling for NBC News President Noah Oppenheim to be fired.
Oppenheim wrote a lengthy memo to NBC employees earlier this month slamming Farrow and his reporting.
“Farrow’s effort to defame NBC News is clearly motivated not by a pursuit of truth, but an axe to grind. It is built on a series of distortions, confused timelines, and outright inaccuracies,” he said.
Farrow and former NBC producer, Rich McHugh, accused NBC News of spiking stories related to sexual misconduct. McHugh also said the company had spiked stories at Harvey Weinstein’s request.
Catch and Kill, Farrow’s recent book included new accusations of sexual abuse by former NBC host Matt Lauer and the company’s attempt to cover it up.
