During a meeting with Newsday’s editorial board, Hillary Clinton discussed her change of heart on criminal justice. She suggests she only recently realized realized the impact of systemic racism on the criminal justice system.
“It’s very clear to me, having now immersed myself in this for more than a year, systemic racism has had a very powerful and egregious impact on the criminal justice system.”
Clinton has been working to move past her husband’s record and her support for criminal justice laws which many now believe took justice in the wrong direction.
And just yesterday, Clinton and NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio were ripped for joking about “C.P” time. The Hill reports:
“I just have to say thanks for the endorsement, Bill. Took you long enough,” Clinton told her former campaign manager. “Sorry, Hillary, I was running on C.P. time,” de Blasio replied to gasps from the crowd. As Raw Story explains, “C. P. time,” or “colored people time,” refers to “the stereotype that African Americans generally tell as a reason for being late to an event or a traditionally black event not beginning on time.”
