Kid Rock: ‘F–k no, I’m not running for Senate’

Kid Rock announced Tuesday he will not be running for the Senate in Michigan after months of speculation he would jump in the race against Democrat Sen. Debbie Stabenow in 2018.

Rock mocked those who thought he might run for the seat after he began selling “Kid Rock For Senate” merchandise on his website, and said that it was all about promoting his new album and going on tour to support it.

“Fuck no, I’m not running for Senate. Are you kidding me?” Rock told SiriusXM’s Howard Stern. “Who couldn’t figure that out? I’m releasing a new album. I’m going on tour, too. Are you fucking shitting me?”

“It’s the worst advice I ever gave myself, but it’s been the most creative thing I’ve ever done,” he said. “And I’ve gotten to see everyone’s true colors.”

Rock’s latest album, “Sweet Southern Sugar,” is slated to be released on Nov. 3.

The longtime rock star had publicly floated the idea of running against Stabenow, a three-term incumbent. A super PAC led by allies of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., even said that they were “very interested” in a potential campaign.
