Another woman assaulted

in Arlington park

Arlington County police are increasing patrols around Barcroft Park and asking women not to walk alone on bike paths after two women were assaulted there in a month.

A woman told police she was assaulted by a stranger near the 4600 block of South Four Mile Run Drive on Tuesday night.

An officer found the woman there at about 11 p.m. after responding to a call from an off-duty police officer who thought he had seen a couple arguing behind an apartment building.

Another woman reported being assaulted in the same area last month as she was walking on a bike path.

The woman had been dragged into the bushes at about 1:30 p.m. after an unknown man put a cloth over her face, police said. – Taryn Luntz

McLean woman charged

in parkway road rage

A McLean woman was charged Tuesday in a road rage incident on the George Washington Memorial Parkway, according to federal court documents.

Diane Flynn, of 1800 Old Meadow Road, was driving a maroon Jaguar in January when the vehicle nearly collided with another car, according to U.S. Park Police.

Flynn made an obscene gesture with her right hand, then lowered it to display a silver-colored revolver, charging documents said.

Flynn was charged with brandishing a firearm to induce fear, unlawfully carrying a weapon in an area under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service, and reckless driving. – Scott McCabe

Robbery suspect calls police,

is recognized, arrested

A suspect in the March 11 robbery of a 33-year-old Fairfax-area man was arrested Wednesday after he called police to his home to report a vehicle tampering and was recognized by officers.

Abel Solomon, 21, had been a suspect in a crime in which two men confronted the victim with a gun and baseball bat and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

Solomon was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with robbery. – William C. Flook
