The White House’s deputy national security adviser has been offered a job as ambassador in far off Singapore.
K.T. McFarland, a former Fox News analyst, was brought on to the White House National Security Council by ousted national security adviser Michael Flynn, who was fired by President Trump.
Now it seems McFarland could also be leaving Trump’s national security team, CNN reported on Saturday.
McFarland’s role at the White House has been uncertain since Flynn left.
Sources close to the situation also said that McFarland is also being considered for a post at the State Department, although one source said she could also opt to stay on at the National Security Council. No formal offer had been made by Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
McFarland is said to be still mulling ambassador offer, which CNN reported had been made weeks ago. One source said McFarland would go to the State Department if she were offered a high-level position, but is happy to go to Singapore if an offer from Tillerson never materializes.
