Fox News veteran teams up with left-wing blogger to create ‘go-to liberal antidote’ to Drudge Report

A former correspondent for Fox News, who left the network in 2017, has announced that he is launching a website which will be “the go-to liberal antidote” to popular conservative news aggregation, the Drudge Report. Carl Cameron, after over two decades with Fox, has teamed with Joseph Romm, a noted climate reporter for ThinkProgress, to launch Front Page Live. ThinkProgress is the editorial arm of the left-wing Center for American Progress Action Fund.

Carl Cameron, who regularly appeared on Fox programs Special Report and Shepard Smith Reporting has stated that he left the network in 2017 after 22 years because of the perceived political slant of the network. He said, “I was one of Fox’s first hires, the idea of fair and balanced news appealed to me … over the years, the right-wing hosts drowned out straight journalism with partisan misinformation.” Of his new venture with Romm, Cameron stated, “I have a little bit of unfinished business.”

In a video announcing Front Page Live, Cameron touted his “unique insight of how the right operates.” He said that after 30 years of covering Donald Trump he felt certain that he was a “con man who did collude and coordinate with Russia to get elected.” He further stated that his mission was only to “inform” and that it would be up to the readers of Front Page Live to draw their own conclusions after reading the stories.

Cameron told The Wrap in 2016 that he had to give up his habit of consuming 10 to 15 Red Bull energy drinks per day because the resulting energy crash was incompatible with his “exhausting” coverage of Trump’s presidential campaign.

When announcing his departure from Fox News in 2017, Cameron stated, “I will always be immensely grateful for the relationships, experiences, and many lessons over the last two decades.”

Fox News host of Life, Liberty, & Levin Mark Levin was surprised to hear Cameron speak disparagingly of his time at Fox. Levin tweeted, “Carl Cameron used to show up at conservative social gatherings when he was a reporter for Fox News. He was very comfortable hobnobbing with conservatives. His alleged disgruntlement with Fox & his new liberal site belie what I personally witnessed.”

Regarding Levin’s tweet, Cameron told the Washington Examiner, “I went to social events with a lot of people and feel comfortable with people from both parties.”
