New liberal organization says ‘blue lives’ don’t matter in deleted post

A left-leaning organization said “blue lives” don’t matter in a tweet that it later deleted.

“Say it with me: blue lives matter,” Human Events editor Ian Miles Cheong tweeted on Sunday.

“Say it with me: they don’t,” the Gravel Institute responded, but the organization later deleted the tweet.

The Gravel Institute is a left-leaning response to the popular, right-leaning Prager University and will officially launch its organization this month.

After deleting the original tweet, the organization later doubled down on its stance.

“Sorry, it was late, so just to be clear: ‘blue lives’ are not a thing. Thus, ‘blue lives’ don’t matter,” the group wrote.

The tweet comes as unrest has gripped the nation over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis and the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, during interactions with police. Protests and riots in support of the Black Lives Matter movement have sprung up in demand of racial equality and social justice.

Meanwhile, a countermovement in support of law enforcement has begun to clash with the protests, sometimes leading to violence.

President Trump has offered support for America’s law enforcement officers, saying that they are the country’s needed peacekeepers.

“Americans know the truth: Without police, there is chaos, without law, there is anarchy, and without safety, there is catastrophe,” Trump said in response to calls to defund police in June.
