Vice President Joe Biden clinched Oklahoma in another blow to former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s campaign.
Oklahoma, where 37 pledged delegates are on the line, was a state Bloomberg’s campaign was banking on winning during Super Tuesday. Candidates need a total of 1,991 delegates to win the Democratic nomination.
A poll conducted two weeks ago showed Biden and Bloomberg, who spent more than $5 million in the state, in a statistical tie.
“We’re feeling optimistic,” Biden said after his first victory of the night in Virginia, which awards 99 pledged delegates.
Elizabeth Warren, who was born in the state, was below the 15% threshold needed to secure delegates at the time the race was called.
