Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson has seen his poll numbers get cut down to nearly half over the past two months, dashing his hopes of winning the White House as an outsider.
The former New Mexico governor peaked at nearly 10 percent in September prior to the first presidential debate. Johnson would have had to hit 15 percent in five national polls to be included in the debate.
By the time of the second debate in mid-October, Johnson was down to 7 percent. Despite Republican nominee Donald Trump’s recent drop, Johnson has not been able to steal away any of the Republican’s supporters.
This past weekend, a CNN/ORC poll put Johnson at 5 percent among all registered voters, but only 3 percent among likely voters.
