Montgomery County activist Robin Ficker has announced plans to run for Maryland’s reshaped Sixth Congressional District.
Ficker joins state Sen. Rob Garagiola, D-Montgomery County, and former Montgomery County Councilwoman Duchy Trachtenberg, who announced their plans last week.
The district, whose borders state lawmakers approved last week during a special General Assembly session, stretches from Garrett, Allegany and Washington counties in Western Maryland to northern and western Montgomery County.
Ficker, a Republican, said he is not worried about Garagiola or Trachtenberg and called Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, the Republican who has held the seat for 10 terms, his “primary opponent.”
