The House committee investigating the Capitol riot issued subpoenas and obtained phone records that are linked to one of former President Donald Trump‘s children, Eric Trump, and Kimberly Guilfoyle, a former adviser to Trump and fiancee to Donald Trump Jr.
The records, obtained from communication companies, are said to include logs that show the time and length of incoming and outgoing communications as well as a log of text messages. However, they do not show the content of the messages, according to CNN.
The development, which came from insider sources, comes as the panel battles the former president over his request to the Supreme Court to have records from his presidency blocked from being accessed by investigators.
Eric Trump and Guilfoyle were involved in “Stop the Steal” efforts, which propped up claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election, and spoke at the Jan. 6 rally on the Ellipse where the former president also delivered remarks and encouraged supporters to march to the U.S. Capitol, precipitating the riot.
Cellphone numbers used by Eric Trump and Guilfoyle are included in the records, the sources said, but the report notes that there is no indication that either one has been directly subpoenaed by the panel.
The panel declined to comment, but a Democratic member, Rep. Zoe Lofgren, told host Don Lemon on Monday, “We’re piecing together information from the [resident’s inner circle and others who were in a position to see and hear what the plot was leading up to the riot.”

A source familiar with Eric Trump’s thinking, as CNN put it, said the president’s son is “not losing any sleep over” the subpoena of his call records. An attorney for Guilfoyle, Joseph Tacopina, said the subpoena is “of no consequence to her because she has absolutely nothing to hide or be concerned about.”
The committee announced Tuesday that it issued subpoenas for four top associates of Trump, including Rudy Guiliani, a lawyer for the former president and the leader of his 2020 election legal team, along with lawyers Jenna Ellis and Sidney Powell. Republican strategist Boris Epshteyn also received a subpoena.
