Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn said Wednesday that it’s up to Donald Trump to announce his vice presidential running mate, and that he would be making any announcement on his own status until Trump speaks.
“You’ll have to ask the Trump campaign that; that’s the only thing I can say at this stage,” Flynn said when asked by radio host Alan Colmes. “I would just say that I’m honored to be in the conversation. It’s humbling because of what it represents for this country.”
When Colmes cited reports that Flynn is out of the running, Flynn refused to clarify any further.
“No, I’m not sort of not confirming or denying it at this point. I just think that it’s such a big question for Donald Trump to answer and he needs to be the one that answers that question,” Flynn said.
But he did acknowledge that he’s still in the running, “as far as I know.”
Trump is expected to announce his vice presidential pick Friday.
