Conan O’Brien’s comedic sidekick Andy Richter called out Sen. Al Franken on Thursday following allegations from a news anchor that he forcibly kissed and groped her back in 2006.
“Goddamnit, Al,” Richter said in the first of a series of tweets. “Shit like this was never funny. Ppl may have laughed, someone may have gleefully snapped that pic, but this shit was NEVER funny to women.”

And now all that good future work is in jeopardy, if not destroyed. Goddamnit, Al.

If you’re a man and you’re not taking an honest inventory of what behavior you accept from other men, and of your own behavior past and present, please do so. It’s for the good of everybody.

“It’s not actual assault, it’s pantomime assault meant to entertain” is not a solid defense, btw

Leeann Tweeden said Franken aggressively kissed her while they were practicing for a skit during a USO tour in 2006 and claimed he groped her while she was asleep on a return flight to the U.S. She shared a photo of a smiling Franken appearing to grab at her breasts while she sleeps.
Franken apologized to Tweeden following the Wednesday claims.
“I certainly don’t remember the rehearsal for the skit in the same way, but I send my sincerest apologies to Leeann,” Franken said in a statement. “As to the photo, it was clearly intended to be funny but it wasn’t. I shouldn’t have done it.”
