Lynette “Diamond” Hardaway, of the conservative duo “Diamond and Silk,” died of heart disease caused by chronic blood pressure, according to her death certificate.
Hardaway died on Jan. 8 at the age of 51. She and her sister, Rochelle “Silk” Richardson, were famously known for their support of former President Donald Trump. Her memorial service, which Trump presided over, was on Jan. 21 in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
DIAMOND FROM DIAMOND AND SILK DEAD, TRUMP ANNOUNCES
Her official cause of death is due to chronic blood pressure, but no autopsy was conducted, according to the Associated Press.
There were false reports that Richardson attributed her sister’s death to a blood clot, which fueled speculation on social media floating the idea of COVID-19 or the coronavirus vaccine as potential causes.
A tweet from Richardson’s speech at the memorial service showed that Richardson said her sister became unable to breathe, and Richardson and her husband had performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
“I saw how it happened. I was there when it happened. And it happened suddenly,” Richardson said in the clip, with no mention of a blood clot.
Hardaway’s family has not spoken publicly about the cause of her death. The certificate, signed by a local doctor and provided to the Associated Press from the county register, lists heart disease as the cause.
The duo Diamond and Silk came into the national spotlight during Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and recently backed the former president’s 2024 bid.

Trump announced Hardaway’s death on Truth Social, calling her “Magnificent Diamond” and a “true patriot and a friend.”
“She lived it in a credible way, and we’re going to have a wonderful celebration and ceremony,” Trump said in a video post prior to the funeral. “All of Diamond’s family and Silk, we love Silk, her sister. She loved her sister so much, and they loved each other. And they really loved the world.”
