MAKING ANOTHER DEAL: Drugstore operator Walgreen Co. said Thursday that it will buy a regional drugstore chain focused on the mid-South for about $438 million from Stephen L. LaFrance Holdings Inc. of Little Rock, Ark.
THE DETAILS: The chain includes USA Drug, Super D and May’s drugstores. The acquisition is much smaller than the $6.7 billion cash-and-stock deal Walgreen announced last month for a stake in European health and beauty retailer Alliance Boots.

SALES SLUMP: Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreen also said that revenue from stores open at least a year slid 10 percent in June, due in part to it split with Express Scripts Holding Co., the big pharmacy benefits manager for whom Walgreen had filled prescriptions.
