A former Prince William County high school coach has pleaded guilty to sending lewd messages to a 16-year female student.
Former Stonewall Jackson High School coach and government teacher William Dignan, 43, admitted to two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, said Commonwealth’s Attorney Paul Ebert. Dignan was sentenced to a year in jail suspended on the condition of his future good behavior, a $1,000 fine, and ordered not to have contact with the girl. He was also ordered to surrender his teaching license.
Dignan’s roommate, 32-year-old Nicholas Rosser, was found guilty of possession of marijuana, deferred six months. If he gets into no further trouble, the case will be dismissed, Ebert said.
Police said Dignan sent numerous sexual messages to a girl by phone and e-mail. When officers executed a search warrant at Dignan’s home in Gainesville, they found the marijuana. Rosser also coached at Jackson High. He was fired after his arrest.
