President Trump stepped up his confrontation with former President Barack Obama on Sunday, reminding the country of the time Obama sought to furtively assure the Russians that he could deal with them more amicably once he didn’t have to worry about politics.
“Who was it that secretly said to Russian President, ‘Tell Vladimir that after the election I’ll have more flexibility?'” Trump tweeted early Sunday morning.

Trump was referring to a moment in 2012 when Obama, not realizing he could be heard, told then-Russian President Dmitri Medvedev that he would have “more flexibility” to deal with Russia once he was re-elected.
Trump’s tweet seems an effort to invoke his predecessor’s dealings with Russia as questions swirl about possible contacts between Trump campaign aides and surrogates and Russian officials.
The tweet also comes just a day after Trump tweeted that Obama had tapped his phones, calling him a “bad (or sick) guy!”
Trump on Sunday also sought to highlight a potential scandal involving the Democratic National Committee, tweeting, “Is it true the DNC would not allow the FBI access to check server or other equipment after learning it was hacked? Can that be possible?”

Last month, FBI Director James Comey told Congress that the agency had requested access to the DNC’s hacked servers but was denied.
