John Rogers, the communications director for Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore, has resigned from his campaign post, according to a report published Wednesday afternoon.
Rogers’ decision to leave the Republican candidate comes just weeks before the Dec. 12 special election.
“Unfortunately John just did not have the experience to deal with the press the last couple of weeks, and we’ve had to make a change,” aide Brett Doster told a reporter.

But Bill Armistead, Moore’s campaign chairman, disputed that account. “John made the decision to leave the campaign last Friday — any representations to the contrary are false — and we wish him well,” he said.
Nine women have accused Moore of sexually harassing or assaulting them while they were underage or young women in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
On Twitter, Moore has insisted that the allegations are part of the media’s strategy to ensure Democrat Doug Jones wins Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ seat.
