Morning Examiner with Steve Doty for Aug. 11

The Democratic primary for Hawaii‘s Senate seat remains too close to call following Saturday’s primary. Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hi. leads Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, D-Hi. by a narrow margin, but because of Tropical Storm Iselle, many voters will now vote by absentee ballot. The race may not be decided for days if not weeks.

President Obama is on Martha’s Vineyard for the family’s annual vacation, but will participate in a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee event Monday night. Obama will also come back to Washington this weekend for meetings at the White House.
