Girl, 6, dies on Haunted Mine Drop at Colorado theme park

A 6-year-old girl died on a Haunted Mine Drop at a theme park in Colorado on Sunday night.

Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park said it is investigating what caused the girl’s death. Park employees performed first aid until paramedics arrived. Paramedics determined that the girl was dead, according to Fox 8.

The park will be closed on Monday and Tuesday following the accident.

“We are deeply saddened and ask that you please keep the family of the deceased in your thoughts and prayers,” the park’s website reads.

The girl was from Colorado Springs and was on vacation with her family. Authorities are not releasing the child’s name at this time.

The park’s Haunted Mine Drop describes itself on the park’s website as the world’s first drop ride to go underground. Attendees who ride the mine drop plunge 110 feet down below ground.
