Chris Cuomo thanked Fox’s Sean Hannity and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow for their support after the CNN host was caught on camera threatening someone last week.
A man said he mistook Cuomo for “Fredo,” a character in the movie The Godfather, while the CNN host was on vacation last week. In the movie, Fredo is the weakest and least intelligent of the Corleone brothers.
Cuomo took the reference as an insult, compared it to using the N-word, and threatened to throw the man down the stairs. Cuomo’s reaction was caught on video, and he addressed it on his Monday show after returning from vacation.
“No secret how I spent one particular afternoon on vacation and there is nothing to add, except to say thank you,” Cuomo began. “Thank you to all who reached out in person, who sent messages. I appreciate it. That includes Mr. Hannity and Ms. Maddow.”
“They acted as colleagues, not competitors, and I won’t forget it. In fact, I’m not going to forget and I will use all of the feedback because the key is for us to all be better, and that starts with me,” Cuomo said.
