Hacked emails: ‘It always makes sense to whack Steve King’

A senior campaign adviser to Hillary Clinton said in 2015 that it “always makes sense to whack” Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, on immigration.

“And this is particularly outrageous and bigoted and [fill in the bad word],” Clinton adviser Jake Sullivan wrote on May 3, 2015.

The email was revealed in the third batch of emails that WikiLeaks allegedly obtained illegally from Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta and released over the last week.

Sullivan’s email was written in reply to Mandy Grunwald, another Clinton adviser, who asked if it makes sense to attack King for trying to change the Constitution to end birthright citizenship.

Sullivan said King is an easy target, but said other Republicans would also attack King, and wondered if it made sense to make a big deal about his remarks in the campaign.

Podesta agreed, and said it makes more sense to keep the attacks focused on Republicans who were still in the primaries at that point. “I’d stick with Bush/Rubio,” he wrote.
