Water main break closes school
A water main break forced Westowne Elementary School in Baltimore County to close early Wednesday.
The lack of water closed the school in Westview Park on the third day of the year at about 12:45 p.m., county school officials said.
CCBC debuts ‘admobiles’
Cars wrapped in advertisements for the Community College of Baltimore County recently hit the streets, part of a campaign to stretch funds and save employees gas money.
Faculty and staff have been using a dozen of the school’s vans and cars to travel between the campuses in Catonsville, Dundalk and Essex since the end of July, said spokeswoman Jacqueline Lucy. But with classes for the school’s 65,000 students starting just this week, the cars have only begun to get much use.
The car carry the school’s “I am CCBC” advertising message and feature testimonials and oversized pictures of students, graduates and faculty.
