One arrested after Woodbridge, Virginia, shooting that left four dead

A 24-year-old man has been arrested as a suspect in a shooting that left four people dead in Woodbridge, Virginia, on Monday.

Prince William County Chief of Police Peter Newsham said in a press conference that David Nathaniel Maine was arrested on Tuesday after shooting four people inside a home.

Law enforcement had received a 911 call at 4:32 p.m. and arrived in the 5200 block of Mansfield Court to conduct a welfare check. Upon entering the home, they discovered two women and two men who had died from gunshot wounds.

The victims are Miguel Flores, 44, his wife Kelly Sotelo, 42, their daughter Karrie Sotelo, 19, and Richard Corrales, 37, police revealed on Tuesday. Corrales had rented a room in the house.

Police said that it appeared that the daughter had been shot first and that the couple were recently married.

“We’re still trying to nail down the motive in the case, but the only word I can use to describe this is senseless. Absolutely senseless that anyone would take four lives the way that they did,” Newsham said during the press conference. “Anybody who was out here last night knows that there was a huge group of friends and family members that were gathered, and they were completely distraught over the loss of these lives.”
