Feds encourage parents to play ‘grocery store bingo’ with kids

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is encouraging parents around the country to play “Grocery Store Bingo” when shopping for healthy foods with kids at the supermarket.

“Shopping w/ little ones can be tough,” USDA tweeted Tuesday. “Let kids play this Grocery Store Bingo while you shop.”

The tweet provided a Bingo card that can be cut out and used by kids. To play, kids simply need to mark off each time their parents buy a healthy food, until they get five across.

For example, buying oranges, tomatoes, rice, tuna fish and yogurt would result in a Bingo. But if the center space is used, parents only have to have to buy four healthy foods to get a Bingo.
