Two of the six escalators at the Dupont Circle Station on Metro’s Red Line are out of service.
The first malfunctioned and was taken out of sercive for repairs Saturday, while the second broke down earlier Monday. Both were closed off with yellow gates as of late Monday morning.
The escalator problems are the latest in a long string of escalator and elevator difficulties at the Dupont Circle Station, which Metro General Manager Richard Sarles called one of the agency’s “most challenging locations” at last week’s Metro Board meeting.
Metro officials are scheduled to receive later this month the results of an independent assessment of the agency’s escalator and elevator maintenance program.
