White House sends Jason Greenblatt to Israel for peace talks

The White House is sending top national security aide Jason Greenblatt back to Israel for peace talks between the Israelis and Palestinians.

It’s at least the second trip in a month that Greenblatt has made to the Middle East.

A White House official said the primary purpose of the visit is to meet with U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, though he will “also likely be taking meetings relevant to both the Israelis and the Palestinians.”

“This trip is an interim visit as talks continue about potential next steps. President Trump has made it clear that working towards achieving a lasting peace agreement between the Israelis and Palestinians is a top priority for him,” the official said.
