As the Republican Party seeks to make inroads with younger voters, some within the GOP acknowledge the party still has a long way to go. Demographic divides over issues like gay rights could further alienate these voters for an entire generation, argue some Republican insiders.
Rachel Hoff is the first openly gay Repubilcan to sit on the party’s platform committee. She notes there are some signs for optimism but generally feels frustrated with the direction her party has moved in on the issue.
