COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) — Council Bluffs officials expect the boil advisory to remain in effect until the city water tests out safely.
The advisory was issued after a water main break early Wednesday caused a drop in pressure. That could have allowed contaminants to enter the lines, posing a danger to health.
Council Bluffs Water Works director Doug Drummey says water samples take 24 hours to complete and says he’s hoping to know by noon Thursday whether the water is safe to drink.
Schools that use city water have contacted parents and encouraged them to send bottled water with their children. The schools are taking special precautions with school meals and many also have bottled water on hand.
