KYLE, Texas (AP) — State troopers have fired on an 18-wheeler that drove through a South Texas Border Patrol checkpoint to bring the rig to a stop following a chase covering more than 160 miles.

Authorities say the chase began early Thursday when the driver of the rig failed to stop at the checkpoint in Freer, northeast of Laredo.
