Md. casino generates $2 million in first four days

Maryland’s first slots casino generated more than $2 million in revenue over its first four days of operation in September, the state lottery reported on Wednesday.

Each of the 1,500 slot machines installed in Perryville’s new Hollywood Casino generated roughly $346 per day. The Department of Legislative Services estimated each machine would rake in about $210 a day.

But the state’s slots revenue is still far behind schedule, since the Perryville casino is only the first of five slots locations that has opened since voters approved the gambling machines in 2007.

The Maryland Education Trust fund will receive roughly $1 million of the casino’s September revenues and $685,000 will be returned to the casino.  The rest will go to the state lottery, horse racing, and minority and women-owned businesses.
