Reporter: Anthony Scaramucci is ‘creating more leaks’ as he tries to crack down on leaks

Joshua Green, a reporter for Bloomberg Businessweek, said incoming White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci is inadvertently creating more leaks as he tries to aggressively crack down on leaks coming from the West Wing.

Green said Thursday on CNN that his phone was “blowing up” with calls from people in the White House, as Scaramucci was on the air threatening to fire anyone who is giving damaging information about the Trump administration to reporters.

“The problem is his performance is creating more leaks, live, in real time,” he said. “My phone is blowing up. I have a Trump adviser saying, ‘Dude, how bad was that? How is this thing playing live on the air? Call me when you get off.’ I mean, this is amplifying precisely the problem that Scaramucci is trying to shut down. I don’t think this is going to be a very effective strategy.”

Moments before Green’s interview, Scaramucci was on the same program complaining about leaks, even proposing that the White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus “explain that he’s not a leaker.”

After Scaramucci was named to his new role in the White House, he said he would “fire everybody” he could in order to smoke out leaks in the administration.
