President Biden, known as a man of many words, kept it reasonably brief in his maiden speech as commander in chief, making a pitch for national unity.

His 20-minute address was delivered on a chilly Wednesday from the west front of the U.S. Capitol, two weeks after supporters of former President Donald Trump stormed the building, hoping to delay Congress certifying the 2020 Electoral College votes.
