District police are investigating a fatal shooting in Petworth.
Police said 20-year-old Derrick Rawls of Northwest D.C. was found dead in an alley on the 4500 block of 8th Street NW at about 9:20 p.m.
Officers responded to the area for a report of gunshots and found Rawls in the alley.
No one has been arrested; police are seeking a suspect and motive in the slaying.
