Three minutes with Joe Flacco

Joe Flacco became the first rookie quarterback since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970 to win a playoff game on the road when he guided his team to a 27-9 victory at Dolphin Stadium on Sunday. The 23-year-old completed just 9-of-23 passes for 135 yards, but did not throw an interception. In the regular season, Flacco completed 257-of-428 passes for 2,971 yards, 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions

How do you feel the Ravens played on Sunday?

It was great the way we came together. We went down there and converted on our defensive turnovers. Our defense gave us a lot of chances today, and we did a good enough job converting on them.

You just became the first rookie quarterback to win a road playoff game. What does that mean to you?

It is awesome to go anywhere and get a playoff win, and that’s what we did today. We are a family, and we are playing for each other. We want to make everyone feel really good. I have been saying all along: This is one playoff win. We still need three more [to win the Super Bowl], and we all have the confidence to go out there and do it.

How do you feel the offense responded after turning the ball over in the first quarter?

You have to overcome those things if you want to be a playoff team and win playoff games. It is going to happen. You just have to put your head down and move on to the next play.

Was this game special?

It was pretty much the same. Miami has a great environment. Miami had a bunch of people here and the Baltimore Ravens had a bunch of people come down and watch the game. Beside the great environment it was just another football game.
