Former Prince George’s County Executive Jack Johnson has enough to worry about as he’s expected to appear in federal court Tuesday on corruption-related charges.
But now, The Washington Post writes that his son, Bruce, was hired by the county’s Health Department despite a hiring freeze at the end of his term as county executive.
Jack Johnson was indicted last month on charges of taking bribes from developers and businessmen throughout his tenure as county executive. He has proclaimed his innocence.
His wife, Leslie, a County Council woman, was also arrested — but has not been indicted — on evidence tampering charges after the FBI said she plotted with her husband to hide some bribes in her underwear and flush others down the toilet.
Jack Johnson’s arraignment is set for Tuesday at U.S. District Court in Greenbelt. Leslie Johnson filed a motion with the court to extend the date of her preliminary hearing — and possible indictment — until April 6.
