Alec Baldwin has some thoughts about Roseanne Barr and her racist Twitter rant

Actor Alec Baldwin, who portrays President Trump on “Saturday Night Live,” has some thoughts about Roseanne Barr’s Twitter activity this week.

“I took some Ambien last night. I got out of bed, covered myself in Nutella and ran naked through my apartment lobby. My doorman said I called him Strawberry jelly,” Baldwin tweeted Wednesday from his AB Foundation Twitter account., referencing Barr’s claim that her racist tweets were spurred by taking the sleep aid drug Ambien.

After Barr tweeted former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett looked like the “Muslim brotherhood [and] planet of the apes had a baby” — a tweet that was widely seen as having racist undertones since Jarrett is African-American — Channing Dungey, the first black female president of ABC Entertainment, canceled the popular reboot of Barr’s sitcom “Roseanne” on Tuesday.

In a series of tweets, Baldwin suggested an alternative to to canceling the show in which Barr’s character, who is a Trump supporter, experiences the repercussions of what Barr did in real life.

“Re the Roseanne issue, I see it this way: 1- force her 2 come 2 work and shoot a season that deals w what the real Roseanne has done. Her character sends out a racist, offensive tweet and is compelled 2 deal w the consequences,” Baldwin posted to his foundation’s Twitter page. But why not make an example of her? Why not make her go thru a process that countless other ppl might benefit from?”
