Trump campaign reports $51 million June fundraising haul

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, in conjunction with the Republican National Committee, raised $51 million in the month of June after the candidate began the month with an electoral report that left many Republicans worried about his fundraising abilities.

In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, the campaign reported that its total contributions stand at $55 million — a figure that pales in comparison to the $106 million former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney raised in June 2012 alone.

Less than half of the $51 million raised in June ($26 million) comes in the form of donations made to the Trump campaign itself, while an additional $19.9 million was raised through a joint fundraising agreement between Trump, the RNC and a handful of state parties.

Trump’s decision to self-fund in the GOP primary has put his campaign far behind the Clinton machine in terms of fundraising, but the candidate’s active fundraising schedule since clinching the Republican nomination appears to be keeping his campaign afloat.

“The campaign in conjunction with the RNC … hosted 22 fundraising events throughout the country for Trump Victory, with contributions exceeding $25 million,” the Trump campaign said Wednesday. The billionaire also contributed $3.8 million to his own campaign in June.

“The results this month show the enthusiastic movement the campaign has created,” the statement continued. “People want to invest in a better future for America and Make America Great Again.”

Hillary Clinton’s campaign has reported a total haul of $70 million in June, including funds raised through her joint fundraising agreement with the Democratic National Committee.
