Police officials declined to comment on the allegations of a 12-year-old Baltimore girl who said she was raped by a cab driver Monday evening.
The victim told police that she hailed a cab at Coldspring and the Alameda. She was found by medics with blood on her clothing at about 6 p.m. The allegations led police to pull over and question cab drivers Monday evening.
Dwight Kines, general manager of the Yellow Cab Co. in Baltimore, said his firm was fully cooperating with police.
“The last time we heard from them was yesterday evening, but we continue to be proactive about helping the police any way we can,” he said Tuesday afternoon.
Kines said the search for the driver was difficult because the girl did not remember the cab?s medallion number.
When asked about the investigation Tuesday, police spokesman Det. Donny Moses declined to comment.
Local cab drivers, who expressed sympathy for the victim, said they hoped that one of their own was not responsible for the crime.
“We don?t usually pick up people that young,” said Mohammed Osman, a yellow-cab driver. “Usually teenagers use hacks in that area.”
