A New York judge ordered the Trump Organization to comply with a subpoena from state Attorney General Letitia James by the end of April.
Lawyers for the Trump Organization agreed to a schedule to comply with the subpoena issued against the company more than two years ago seeking material from employees’ devices and to produce reports about which devices had been searched.
PROSECUTOR SAYS TRUMP GUILTY OF ‘NUMEROUS’ FELONIES
“I hope we are winding down this whole investigation,” state Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron said during a hearing Monday, per the Wall Street Journal. “One thing all of us can agree on is we want this to end at some point.”
The company plans to produce most of the relevant documents by April 15 but has until April 29 to turn over everything requested. Trump Organization lawyers contend that the only device left to be searched in the investigation was a phone that belonged to Alan Garten, a lawyer for the company, according to CNN.
Engoron ordered both the Trump organization and forensics company HaystackID, which was hired to monitor the Trump Organization’s compliance with the subpoena, to produce weekly reports on the company’s progress.
“We are pleased with this order, which will continue to hold Donald J. Trump and the Trump Organization accountable. Once again, it sends a clear message that no one is above the law,” James said in a statement to the Washington Examiner.
The schedule for compliance was negotiated between lawyers for the Trump Organization and James. Engoron endorsed the agreement. Both sides are due back in court April 25 for a status conference.
James began her investigation into the Trump Organization in 2019 following congressional testimony from former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, who alleged that the company manipulated its asset valuations for financial benefit. Cohen claimed the company increased asset valuations for business deals and diminished valuations for tax purposes.
Trump has vehemently denied the accusations and alleged that there are political motivations behind James’s inquiry as well as a criminal inquiry by the Manhattan district attorney.

The attorney general’s office has also issued subpoenas seeking depositions from Trump, Ivanka Trump, and Donald Trump Jr. The Trumps have challenged the deposition subpoenas in court but agreed to turn over key documents by March 31. James is also trying to obtain key tax documents from an accounting firm that worked for the Trump Organization.
The Washington Examiner reached out to the Trump Organization for comment but did not receive a response.
