Video released from inside Takoma Park bank robbery

Newly released video shows the scene inside a Takoma Park bank where a robber took several tellers hostage before being shot and killed by police when he apparently slipped on ice outside.

Carlos Espinoza Arcia, 43, tried to rob the Capital One bank located at 1181 University Blvd. East at gunpoint on Jan. 28, according to police. The video from inside the bank, obtained by Fox 5, shows employees fleeing from the bank and Arcia behind the tellers’ counter, pointing a gun at their heads.

He was fatally shot after pulling one hostage outside, with a gun pointed at her head. Officers moved in when he tripped over snow and ice and the hostage ran away.

A Prince George’s County police officer was grazed in the leg by what is believed to be a richocheting bullet. The bank teller who’d been taken hostage received a minor scrape on her arm and a customer in the bank, who tried to grab the gun from the suspect, was hospitalized after the suspect pistol-whipped him.
