Trump ‘feels completely and totally vindicated’ by Comey’s planned testimony: Lawyer

Hours after former FBI Director James Comey’s planned testimony about his interactions with President Trump posted online, Trump’s private legal counsel said the president “feels completely and totally vindicated.”

Marc Kasowitz, Trump’s attorney, told reporters in a statement that the president “is pleased Mr. Comey has finally publicly confirmed his private reports that the president was not under investigation in any Russian probe.”

“The president feels completely and totally vindicated,” Kasowitz said. “He is eager to continue to move forward with his agenda.”

The Senate Intelligence Committee posted Comey’s planned testimony online one day before his appearance before panel members on Thursday.

In his prepared testimony, Comey claims that he told Trump three separate times that the president was not personally under investigation in the FBI’s probe of Russian election interference and any possible collusion with the Trump campaign. But Comey’s statement also expresses concern about how Trump asked him to end its investigation of Mike Flynn, the president’s first national security adviser. He does not make legal conclusions about Trump’s actions, but does express discomfort with what he says the president asked of him.
